Race Day wrap up QRDC round 6
Well congratulation to all the competitor and officials in what was a great race meeting for the last racing event of for 2023 year.
Now with only the SOLD OUT GALA Trophy night to be had and will nicely wrap up 2023.
Queensland Raceway weather turned on a hot 30 plus degree day that took its toll on man & machine…
Great to see Ray Raaymakers making his long awaited debut in the his immaculately prepared Stockman RS Honda 250 twin..
Fantastic effort for his first drive at QR in his 250 inter superkart and finished most races all in one piece..
David Dyson took out the Coach Design 250 cc DEA twin for a few sessions on the Friday practise and by all reports loved it and was coming to grips with extra power over his Rotax 125cc non gearbox.. apart from a short visit to the “Kitty Litter” during one session, lets hope that this will be a new seat for him next year .
Andrew Cain settled in very well to the ex Russell Jamieson Anderson 125cc national kart we recently purchased. Andrew had some great racing with Craig Hiller and Ewen Burg in their KZ karts,, Andrew showing his race craft from may years in Rotax Max with often 3 to 4 positions changer per lap.. It was great to watch guys hard at it…
Big shout out to Laurie Fooks who again traveled up from NSW to race with us… unfortunately the Hot weather was a bit much for his engine and struggled with engine over heating.. but got it sorted for the last race and was show some good pace till he had to pit due to a loose water hose…
Craig Hiller and Ewen Burb in their KZ shifter karts were never more that a few meters apart the whole day and put on some great racing, and with Andrew Cain dropping in to spoil the party , made for some great entertaining racing…
Lindsay Jamieson was debuting a new KZ TM powered kart for the first time this year after deciding to give the Stockman Honda powered 125cc and Honda 80 cc karts a well earned rest….Its a big change in driving technique , but Iam sure it wont be long before he is fighting it out with the growing number of 125cc KZ class entrants.
Unfortunately we saw a early exit for Tim Weier in his 250 National kart, with the Gas Gas engine making a very unhealthy noise with a crank bearing saying I have had enough… So decided to rest the machine for that day and get it repaired for next year ..
Big disappoint for Tim Philp who also had a disappointing and premature end to his 2023 Superkarting year with a rear axle deciding to fail…
After some early practice issues with carby and ignition wire breaking he came out firing for race 1, certainly showed some great pace and passing the rest of the 125cc National karts or Russel Jamieson and Doug Amiss and Anthony Bassille. Tim drove away even after a Safety Car intervention till lap 9 of 10 when his CRG rear axle said enough..
But it was enough to show the pace and development of the past 12 months giving some very promising results. lets hope next year he can be back racing with the ever increasing numbers in the 125cc national and KZ Shifter class.
It was left to Russell Jamison and Doug Amiss to duel it out for the 125 cc honour, with Russell just managing to keep ahead of Doug for the rest of the 3 races.
Great to see father & son Steve Murray and son Jack racing in a pair or Rotax Max 125cc. Jack in only his second outing is coming to grips with superkart racing , and Iam sure with such a great mentor in Steve who has raced for many years in 250 National karts showing him the ropes, wont be long and he will be a force to be reckon with…
Congrats to first time racer at QR Micah Bradley who raced all day in his 125cc Rotax Max with out his front nose cone, but still finished all races and by all reports had a great meeting coming to terms with the QR layout.
For Antonio Basile, Brad Hall and Tony Fiveash all having mixed days.
Paul Prineas and Brock Nicholas who work tieless the whole day in their DSO duties , keeping us on time and well managed. I know the feedback from QR staff is that the Queensland Superkart is a well organised and respected category by QR officials, which is a testaments to the leadership and committee members and all competitor and their supporters .
Cannot forget all the support staff.. those lovely partners who spend the whole day looking after the kids.. nurturing the next generation of Superkarters…
And really.. would you buy a “used” car from any of these Guys .??? ( 125cc National place getters)
