ULTIMATE STEEL FRAMING QLD Superkart Club Series 2026

Round One | Morgan Park Raceway

Perfect conditions greeted competitors at Morgan Park, with Friday practice giving drivers a chance to reset after the summer break.

In qualifying, Andrew Cain (#72, TAG Heavy) led the Non-Gearbox field (P9 overall), ahead of David Dyson and Jack Murray. Up front, Russell Jamieson set the pace.

Race 1 saw Jack Murray lead the Non-Gearbox charge, finishing 6th overall just ahead of Dyson, while Cain dropped to third in class. In the main field, Jamieson took the win after Weier retired early.

Race 2 flipped the script, with Dyson finishing ahead of Murray, while Cain’s weekend ended with a cracked chassis. Jamieson again took the win, with Tim Philp second and Lindsay Jamieson holding off Paul Prineas for third.

Race 3 ended early for Murray in the Non-Gearbox fight after contact, while Tim Weier stormed from 12th to take the win.

Race 4 saw Dyson again edge Murray in a tight battle, while Weier controlled the race up front. Paul Prineas returned to form to secure his first podium of the weekend in third.

The final race delivered one of the closest finishes of the weekend, with Jack Murray edging Dyson by just 0.2 seconds in the Non-Gearbox battle. Up front, Weier held off a charging Gareth Crisp, who set a blistering new lap record of 1:17.491 but ultimately fell just short.

Russell Jamieson claimed overall honours, with Tim Weier and Nicholas Raymond completing the podium. The Non-Gearbox battles between Murray and Dyson were a standout all weekend.

Craig Hillier earnt the QLD Superkart Club Community Award after navigating an exceptionally challenging weekend.

2026 Round 1 125 Open

1st Russell Jamieson

2nd Nicholas Raymond

3rd Doug Amiss

125 is one of the most competitive classes atm and it’s only going to get better!

Russell Jamieson came into the weekend as the red hot favourite and he had a near perfect weekend other than a pitstop in race 4 when the pipe springs went MIA causing him to finish 2 laps down.

Russell took pole position in class by almost 1.5 seconds from Tim Philp and Doug Amiss behind him though there was plenty of action Tim Philp managing a gearbox issue with a missing 5th gear but still managing to salvage πŸ₯ˆ place in race 2 before it gave up completely in race 3.

Doug Amiss was dialing in a brand new Anderson chassis and damn does it look πŸ”₯ he finished second in race 1 but DNF in race 2 when the front sprocket parted company with the engine πŸ˜…. Bouncing back in race 3 with another πŸ₯ˆ place behind Russell and ahead of Nicholas. Race 4 saw Doug make an unexpected trip down the pitlane for some running repairs. Losing out to Nicholas Raymond in race 5 ultimately dropped Doug back to 3rd overall.

Nicholas Raymond took a well deserved second place for the weekend. It all got a little hairy in race 2 though when making a lighting start from the second row to be second behind Russell heading up the hill towards the bridge the engine mount broke and with Doug right up his rear bumper there was contact pitching Nicholas sideways into the wall but some lighting fast reflexes saw him get the kart pointing back in the right directionπŸ‘Œ

Honourable mentions go to Paul Prineas and Lindsay Jamieson who had some great battles just behind the leading trio and Paul picked up a podium in race 4. We won’t talk about the little trip to the gravel at the final chicane after the 🏁

2026 Round 1

85 Gearbox

1st Michael Smith

125 Heavy

1st David Dyson

2nd Andrew Cain

Andrew Cain threw down the gauntlet in qualifying and said catch me if you can!

David struck back in race 1 though taking a comfortable win over Andrew. Race 2 saw Andrew’s weekend come to a grinding halt with a cracked chassis sidelining him for the rest of the weekend 😭

Michael was missing his fellow 85 drivers Casey and Cody but he still had an absolute ball.

2026 Round 1 125 TAG Light Results

1st X Le

2nd Jack Murray

X Le sporting a brand new paint scheme which looked absolutely πŸ”₯ was keen to get her 2026 campaign off to a flying start. Still running the old Non-evo version of the Rotax engine she was lacking some HP compared to the other drivers but the grapevine says an upgrade is in the pipeline πŸ˜‰ Finishing all 5 races and showing impressive consistency in her lap times says that once she gets some more HP watch out boys 😎

Jack Murray the 2025 class champion showed why he was the champ with some blistering speed taking 2 outright wins for the non-gearbox class and 4 out of 5 light class victories. His only blemish was race 4 when him and Gareth Crisp came together popping a rear tyre off the rim forcing him to retire.
